Worth knowing

Worth knowing before you pick a school, because this one is decided inside your institution rather than by a provincial committee. Your athletic department selects the recipients and pays them, so the person to ask is your team coach, not Alberta Student Aid, and there is no public deadline. You need to be in your second or subsequent term, which means a student starting in September can be selected in the winter term of first year. The bar is deliberately low at a 2.0 GPA and 60 percent of a full course load, and selection is split evenly between male and female athletes. Upgrading and college preparation students qualify after one term but only for a single year, and apprentices qualify after one period if they are progressing.
