Worth knowing

The residency rule is wider than the County's name suggests: the application form counts residents of urban areas inside the County's outer boundaries, and names the City of Medicine Hat and the Town of Redcliff outright, so a student living in the city qualifies. That is the opposite of the County Council scholarship that closes the same day, which turns on living in the County itself. Environmental programmes count alongside agriculture, which widens this well past farm kids. You can win it only once, and you need last year's marks plus a letter of acceptance.

About this scholarship

Cypress County awards two $1,000 bursaries a year to students continuing at a college or university in an in-depth agricultural, agri-tech or environmental programme. Applications and supporting documents go to the County's agricultural fieldman, and the board decides on scholastic standing alongside social and community involvement.
