Who can apply

Black Gold graduates majoring in music at an Alberta institution

Worth knowing

The deadline is September 15 after you finish grade 12, which lands after most students have moved. If the music award goes unclaimed in a year, the fund instead pays two $500 Scandinavian Studies scholarships the following year, for study of a Scandinavian language.

About this scholarship

A music scholarship paid $500 in October and $500 in February on continued registration. You have to be accepted into a post-secondary program in Alberta with music as a major area of study, and to have spent at least a year at a Black Gold high school including grade twelve. The application is a letter of recommendation from a music teacher or principal plus a short account of your musical background and why you are continuing in music.

How to apply

1 Ask your guidance counsellor how your school handles this award.
2 Ask for the school deadline too. It is often earlier than the one listed here.
