Who can apply

Grade 12 students at CBE schools in Calgary

Worth knowing

Verified against the EducationMatters award page on 2026-09-08. The value is $500, and $1,000 may be awarded in cases of financial need; this listing carries the standard figure rather than the exception. Selection is automatic rather than by application: the CBE Science Specialist and your principal pick recipients based on qualification to the Canadian national team, so the action is to qualify, not to write an essay. You must contact EducationMatters for an access code before the online form will open. Open to CBE high and junior high schools where applicable. No fixed deadline is published. Three rules apply to every EducationMatters award and are easy to miss: you must be 20 or younger as of September 1, you must not already be attending a post-secondary institution, and you must apply in your Grade 12 year. Once you leave high school you can no longer apply, so a gap year is fine only if you applied before you graduated.

About this scholarship

Up to five bursaries a year for CBE students who qualify for the Canadian national team in an International Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry Olympiad. The money is for travel and related costs, not tuition.

How to apply

1 Ask your guidance counsellor how your school handles this award.
2 Ask for the school deadline too. It is often earlier than the one listed here.
