Who can apply

Grade 12 students at Ernest Manning High School

Worth knowing

Administered by EducationMatters through one application for all CBE and Calgary Catholic awards. Applications open March 1. Confirm the date on the award page before you rely on it. Three rules apply to every EducationMatters award and are easy to miss: you must be 20 or younger as of September 1, you must not already be attending a post-secondary institution, and you must apply in your Grade 12 year. Once you leave high school you can no longer apply, so a gap year is fine only if you applied before you graduated.

About this scholarship

This award recognizes and encourages students to continue their personal leadership development and interest in outdoor education. Applicants are required to provide an essay of approximately 500 words that reflects on their personal leadership qualities and experiences and how pursuing their chosen educational path will enable them to "give back" to their community.

How to apply

1 Ask your guidance counsellor how your school handles this award.
2 Ask for the school deadline too. It is often earlier than the one listed here.
