Graduating Grasslands students who are children of division teachers

Worth knowing

The handbook publishes no closing date for this award. Applications go through your Grasslands school rather than to the sponsor, and the form is a Google Doc only Grasslands students can open, so ask your school office in the fall for the date it is collecting by.

About this scholarship

The Grasslands local of the Alberta Teachers' Association funds four scholarships of $1,000 each. They are for graduating Grasslands School Division students entering an accredited post-secondary program, and the qualifying condition is family: you must be the child of a past or present teacher of the division, counting anyone who taught there within the past five years. Four awards against a pool that small is unusually good odds, and the five-year window means a parent who has since left teaching still counts.

How to apply

1 Ask your guidance counsellor how your school handles this award.
2 Ask for the school deadline too. It is often earlier than the one listed here.
