The city award here is the unusual one, since it closes on September 1 rather than in the spring and lets the next year's graduates apply if nobody did.

What these mean

Open now: Taking applications now. The date is the deadline.
Open any time: Taking applications, with no deadline to count down to.
Opens later: This year’s application has not opened. Save it, or set a reminder on its page.
Opens later, date not posted: The sponsor has not posted this year’s date. “Around” means last year’s date, so check before you plan on it.
Closed: This year’s deadline has passed.
Bursary: An award given mainly on financial need rather than marks. You usually show your family’s income, not your grades.
Designated trade: A trade Alberta certifies through an apprenticeship, like electrician, welder or carpenter.
RAP: The Registered Apprenticeship Program: you start a paid trade apprenticeship while still in high school, earning school credits and apprenticeship hours at once.
